DEL MAR FAIR RACE, JUNE 7TH 2015

Riders meeting at 8:40 am on Sunday at the apex of 3&4 below the stage.

First off, thanks to everyone for a great first season. From El Centro to Del Mar, we had a blast and could not have done it without you. Our future is beyond promising thanks to the likes of you and your families.

CHECK IN

Riders will be expected to check in by 8:15 am on the morning of June 7th. Practice will begin at 9 am, racing to follow. Thanks to 100% pre-registration, heat race positions will be posted by the time riders arrive on Sunday. Please keep in mind, the facility is prohibiting onsite registration. If this is an issue for you get in touch with us so that we may accommodate you. It is easier on our end if you register and no show than it is to sign you up on race day.

ENTRANCE

Riders will use the same pit gate as before. Exit Via Del Valle off the 5 fwy, head south through the first light. DO NOT TURN ON TO JIMMY DURANTE. Proceed through and make the following left. There will be a horse training track on the right. Pull in there to check in. The red lines will take you to check in while the green will take you to the pits.

CAMPING

There will not be any overnight camping. The following are close by but are not partnered with IVLFT in any way.

TECH

We will be doing tech inspection at check in so please have your bikes easily accessible. With check in closing at 8:30 am, we will have enough time to stage practice by 9 am. Thank Paint By Smokey for being a key part of our operations as he is volunteering his time. He will be doing Tech and Staging for us this race and all following.

Bike requirements:

  • no front brakes (at least levers off)
  • if you have metal pegs, tape them up.
  • number plates on the front and left side of the bike
  • no jagged parts (screws, bolts etc.)
  • Chassis parts must be in good condition
  • Proper functioning throttle

Quad requirements

  • no front brakes (at least levers off
  • Nerf Bars must be installed
  • Number plates on the front and rear
  • No racks of any kind
  • Chassis parts must be in good condition
  • Dead man kill switches
  • Proper functioning throttle

Although we do not have a specific noise requirement, there are decibel readers all over the property. Noise will kill all tracks. If your bike triggers the readers, that bike will be disqualified.

FIRST TIMERS

MANDATORY RIDERS MEETING AT 8:40 AM ON SUNDAY

Check in with our crew at the trainer track. After checking in, proceed to tech and look for Smokey. He will give you a practice number. When Practice begins, proceed to the staging area on the Northwest corner of the arena. You will see multiple rows all labeled 1-10. Your practice number coincides with which row you stage for practice as does your race position. For example, if you are racing the Vintage 500 class starting in the 3rd position, you will stage for your race in the number “3” row.

When determining your race number, go to the heat boards which will be posted at the north end of the arena. Look for your class name and the order for which it is scheduled. If you are in the 35+ Vet Novice class, find the race number on the boards. If it race 20, that is the number you need to remember for staging.

Race 20, Heat A  Position 5 means you would be in staging for Race 20 for the first heat in row 5. Once the track is clear, you will be sent to the starting line for your race. Line up as you did in staging on the line. WAIT FOR THE GREEN TO DROP!!!! ITS GO TIME!!!!

Keep in mind that if there are 15 people in your class, there will likely be 3 heats. Pay attention to your heat letter. If you are in 15B, you will be the 2nd “race 15.” The classes will combine for the mains. So if your starting position in the main is Race 8 position 10, you will line up for race 8 in row 2 behind the #2 starting position. There will be 2-3 rows of bikes on the start during the mains.
